Cutting out coffee update - day 2

Yesterday was the hardest day - I keep telling myself that.
I had a really light headache all day and felt totally drained from 9 pm. In fact, I slept right through until 6 am this morning which is unusual for me.

This all seems to be classic withdrawal symptoms and just serves to harden my resolve to get a handle on this addiction. I will drink coffee again, but never to the level that I have been doing lately, and I intend to use it functionally - for example before an endurance race. I realise now that my body was being jacked up beyond it's natural levels, in a similar way to amphetamine or cocaine, and that is unacceptable.

Today has been much better. I have had much less caffeine than yesterday - just two cups of green tea, and no headache today. I think I might be caffeine free by the weekend. I then intend to keep caffeine free for three weeks until my body is cleared completely before reassessing what I intend to do in the future.

Tonight is going to be a heavy workout (hill interval training at 90% heart maximum) followed by swimming training, so it'll be very, very interesting to see how this affects my performance. I'll post with my observations.
